Organization: Tanzanian Children’s Fund
Country: United Republic of Tanzania
Closing date: 31 Dec 2017
Organization Description:
Volunteer Experience:
Working and living with the children of RVCV is a fully immersive experience. The children’s love and affection will be one of the most life changing and unforgettable gifts you receive during your time as a volunteer. You are rewarded daily for your efforts – a smile on a child's face, a group hug from the kids, an appreciative word from other members of the staff. Whatever amount of yourself you choose to give, you will get back tenfold in so many wonderful ways.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Volunteers contribute to all aspects of the Children’s Village and gain a holistic understanding of the vast influence TCF has on the lives of the children living at RVCV, and the communities that surround it. There are opportunities to work with kids of all ages, help in our medical wing, or run extracurricular activities at the Primary and Secondary schools. While it is likely you will be expected to teach a class of children every day, you are not required to have a teaching background. We encourage our volunteers to use the unique skills that they possess to create engaging and fun activities for the kids. Additionally, volunteering at RVCV is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to pursue a career in international development and wants to experience living in rural East Africa.
Life at the Village:
We take very good care of our volunteers of here by providing 3 delicious meals cooked for you each day, laundry cleaning, and transportation into town for your days off where we can book lunch and pool days for you at the local safari lodges. We also provide assistance booking safari day trips for volunteers interested in experiencing the local wildlife on their days off. Surrounded by the beautiful Safari parks of the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and many more, you will be in a unique setting to experience all that Tanzania has to offer.
Restrictions: If you are interested in volunteering at the Rift Valley Children's Village, please keep in mind the following requirements:
· We are unable to host volunteers who are under 21 years of age without a chaperone.
· Our minimum length of term for volunteers is 3 weeks. This is a strict requirement as it takes at least three weeks to become accustomed to our routine and develop meaningful relationships with the children.
We are in particular need of volunteers from April to June and September to December each year.

Organization Description:
The Tanzanian Children's Fund (TCF) is dedicated to improving the
lives of marginalized children and the surrounding community in the
Karatu region of Northern Tanzania. The Rift Valley Children's Village
(RVCV) was created in 2003 to provide a loving home and a life of
opportunity for orphaned children. It is located high in the hills and
coffee plantations beneath the Ngorongoro Crater Rim, where the weather
is warm and sunny most of the year. Today, the Children’s Village
impacts the lives of more than 100 children. They receive far more than
food, clothing, and shelter – each child at the Children's Village grows
up securely knowing that they are loved and that they are an integral
part of this unique community. They are not up for adoption; the
Children's Village is their permanent family, nurturing them to grow up
to be kind and loving individuals, productive citizens, and future
leaders.
