POSITION: ACCOUNTANT OFFICER

Milk Processors Association (TAMPA) is a member based organization
representing milk processors in Tanzania with the objective of creating
better business environment for milk processing in the country. We seek
to fill the advertised Accountant officer position with an individual
who is analytical, has good organizational skills and is capable of
working independently and as part of a team.POSITION: ACCOUNTANT OFFICER
The TAMPA Accountant job is to keep track of money and ensure each cent is accounted for. His/Her main duty is to ensure TAMPA has sufficient amount of cash liquidity (could be generated from members, projects etc) but must be able to meet its daily operating expenses.
Duties
1. Create and implement chart of accounts- with codes
2. Develop Budget and ensure TAMPA operates within allocated Budgets
3. Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheet and trial balances monthly
4. Ensure each end month accounts are closed and submitted for review by 07th of next month.
These accounts must be generated from the accounting system (Quick book or TALL Accounting
Package)
5. Ensure bank reconciliation is done daily by 11:00am.
6. Ensure daily cash and cash reconciliation is done before close of day
7. Perform withdrawals, deposits and other banking transactions as authorized
8. Ensure all expenses have vouchers, receipts and other necessary supporting documents
9. Ensure all payments received are banked, posted in to system
10. Manage petty cash account. Make payments and send petty cash summary
11. Debtors control: Maintain a debtors statement and follow-up on payments
12. Creditors control: Maintain a creditor’s statement and ensure regular payments
13. Billing: Work to ensure TAMPA membership subscriptions are billed and collected
14. Maintain a fixed asset register and associated asset registry
15. Ensure all statutory requirements i.e. VAT, Provisional Taxes, Annual returns, Payee, SDL are filled and up to date
16. Advice management and board of resource utilization, tax strategies and budget forecasts
17. Prepare payroll for TAMPA and ensure staff wages are paid and appropriate deductions made
18. Ensure Final annual accounts are submitted to Auditors by the 15th January of each year
19. Perform other accounting duties or administrative tasks –as may be required from time to time
20. Stock Control: Maintain stock of products sold by TAMPA and Ensure Minimum stock order level is maintained
21. Stock Taking: Conduct Stock taking at each end of the month

Skills Required
a. Advanced Diploma or Degree in Accounting
b. Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office and Accounting software packages
(Quick book or Tall accounting package)
c. Experience in Accounting works for more that 2years as an added advantage.
