Background
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent, humanitarian organization working on all aspects of the refugee cause in more than 36 countries throughout the world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) against persecution and to promote durable solutions to the problems of forced migration, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works in accordance with the UN Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct for the ICRC and NGOs in Disaster Relief.
 Danish Refugee Council has been operating in Tanzania from October 2015 since the establishment of Nduta refugee camp. DRC are working in Nduta and Mtendeli refugee camps, with a current combined population of 155,000 refugees, and an arrival rate of approximately 600 refugees per day. Additionally, DRC provides capacity building support to camp management in Nyarugusu camp – with a population of 120,000. Together, these camps are growing to some of the largest in the world. DRC are working in the sectors of Camp Management and Community Services, WASH, Livelihoods, Protection and Shelter/Construction. Following the initial emergency response in 2015, DRC deployed emergency responders to open the program and are now, in 2016, stabilising the program to continue to address the needs of the growing refugee population in the two existing camps and a planned third camp. DRC is based in Kibondo, Kigoma region, with a second base in Kasulu. (for more information go to www.drc.ngo). 

Purpose
As the size of the DRC/ DDG Tanzania expands, additional support is required to maintain a standard level of service to the office in Kibondo.  In addition, as Tanzania office embarks on an IT improvement and standardization plan, a skilled IT support will be required to implement and support in the main office and respective field Locations.
Key Responsibilities
He /She should be motivated in the field of IT and Communications and especially possess skills in networking both in LAN and WAN technologies. The right candidate must be self-driven and must work with minimal Supervision. The candidate must be willing to gain hand-on experience working in a multicultural setting for an INGO.
Job Responsibilities 
·         Assist in performing software installations and support day-to-day systems operations.
·         Trouble shooting the LAN.
·         Hardware and software support.
·         Ensure that the anti-virus within the organization is updated on a timely basis.
·         Performing preventive maintenance service on the IT equipment on a scheduled basis.
·         Support to maintain an inventory schedule of all IT equipment and software in use and in the store, through diagnosing their status and performance.
·         Maintain a record of all equipment received for repairs and maintenance. Ensure that internet invoices are received on time and forwarded to finance for payment
·         Provide help desk and technical support to the users.
Reporting Arrangements
Reports to the Logistics Manager and the IT officer, Kampala

Personal Specifications
Essential:
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle diverse tasks simultaneously using prioritization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent Presentation skills.
  • Dynamism, creativity and flexibility.
  • Knowledge of SQL, programming in C#, .Net, Java and PHP
  • Demonstrate previous ICT training skills
  • A+ Certification or equivalent (computer hardware maintenance/repairs skills)
  • Ability to submit reports and keep financial records
Preferable:
  • Diploma and or Bachelor’s degree in IT or related course
  • Must be mature and with the right attitude. 
  • Must have extensive training in communication Aged 24 to 30 years. 
  • Must be passionate about technology and working in hardship areas
  • Experience in networking
  • Knowledge, certification and work experience in computer repair, hardware and programming
  • Microsoft windows/office, Programming, Graphic Design
  • Knowledge in hardware/ software trouble shooting is a requirement.
