OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED RESULTS
Objectives
The Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer is responsible for collecting and checking the data provided from the different sources in order to maintain the regional project data base always update.
He/she will work with the Project Manager providing him feedback on project strategies and activities
Main tasks
  • Assist the project personnel with M&E tools and in supporting them in their use (in both regions);
  • Supervise data collection in the Health Facilities and in the Districts involved in the project in Ruvuma region. Identify bottlenecks and weaknesses in the process and provide technical assistance to health workers to improve data quality and the process of collection;
  • With the support of the Ruvuma project team, timely collect data from all the different project sources (CHWs registries, Supervisors reports, Field Officers reports, Regional Nutritional Office Coordinator reports, Project Manager, Health facilities registries and Districts data) according to the established schedule of reporting;
  • Check the completeness and quality of the data collected from the different sources and of the data entered in the project database;
  • Filling missing data or correct mistakes in collaboration with the colleagues in a team spirit and capacity building attitude;
  • Summarize and organize the data according to the requested monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually reports for Ruvuma region;
  • Be available to organize the data for any kind of additional report requested by the donor or the partners, on demand of the Project Manager/Project coordinator;
  • Summarize, interpret and organize the data in relevant indicators to be utilized to monitor the progress of the project activities;
  • Suggest strategies to the Project Management for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks;
  • Summarize and organize data for presentations of the project results and progresses during supervision visits and meetings with authorities and partners;
  • Be available, if requested by the Project Manager/Project coordinator, to present data during official and internal meetings;
  • Be aware and keep himself/herself updated on the Government tools and requirements for data collection in the field of Nutrition;
  • Keep himself/herself updated on the socio-demographic and health indicators related to the project area (Tanzania Mainland at large, Ruvuma and Simiyu Regions);
  • Support the development of research protocols and coordinate/participate into operational research activities;
  • Follow external evaluators’ activities, provide technical feedback to methodologies applied and generated data;
  • Ensure technical assistance and training to local government authorities at sub-national level, so that they are able to improve planning and provision of nutrition services with a special focus on Therapeutic foods forecasting;
  • Contribute to strengthening CUAMM M&E and reporting tools and systems;
  • Support and collaborate to the integration/harmonisation of CUAMM M&E tools and processes with the national data collection system;
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality on the content of the data analyzed and do not disclose any data, indicator or result to third parties without the authorization of the Project Manager;
  • Be available to perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor degree in statistics/ public health/ economy
  • 3 years working experience in International NGO
  • Proven proficiency in oral/written English;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and Internet
