Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Bakery Production Manager to take responsibility for both our Bread and Pancake Production. Client produce a range of both Bread and Morning Goods products for than 3 years now.
Role Purpose
To lead and manage a shift team in the manufacture of quality bakery products which comply to the relevant legal standards and customer specifications, maximising performance by achieving the KPIs defined for the departments.
Key Accountabilities; Key Activities/ Decision Areas
Customers:
 Scheduling production and controlling the shift production plan to maximise efficiency in the timely production of the correct quantity and quality of product.
 Lead a flexible and committed team which is quality and customer service focused.
 Promote a customer-facing culture with an emphasis on achieving service level excellence.
 Ensure all areas under your control adhere to the appropriate health and safety rules and standards.
 Ensure all areas under your control adhere to the appropriate standards of food safety compliance and hygiene.
 Promotion of GMP at all times.
 Participation in customer audits and visits
Strategy and Planning
 Responsibility for plant scheduling and optimization of resources.
 Using effective verbal and written communication within the production team and with colleagues across the organisation (maintenance, hygiene, commercial, HR, dispatch/logistics)
 Planning and delivering employee development and training initiatives.
 Ensure the team achieves their KPI targets.
 Use knowledge and experience to anticipate and solve problems.
 Oversee training and coaching of team members so that they are multi-skilled and competent in all tasks.
 Leading from the front in a flexible and committed manner.
 Lead the development of a proactive approach to “Clean as You Go” in the work place.
 Ensure that a “treat as your own” philosophy is embraced by the team with regard to company equipment and property.
Execution & implementation
 Ensure safety is paramount, leading by example and promoting a zero accident culture.
 Report hazards promptly to engineering.
 Promote a culture of continuous improvement and actively make suggestions for CI
 Take responsibility for compliance to all Health & Safety requirements.
 Ensure adherence to work instructions, risk assessments and method statements.
 Responsibility for 100% compliance to the appropriate dress code policy for the team.
 Responsibility for 100% compliance to the PPE requirements for the team.
 Carry out any other duties reasonably required.
Financial and Operational Control
 To support the team in the achievement of all the defined KPIs for the line, including order fill, throughput, waste, quality and complaints
 Comply with all hygiene & environmental standards and policies
 Ensure that all food safety, process control, quality and compliance documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
 Use Company systems to record quality, performance and other production data (Quart, OEE, KPI boards, time-keeping and payroll information etc.).
 Drive line performance and monitor material usage taking corrective action when required.
 Continually strive to improve plant performance, waste & finished product quality.
 Enhance controls, processes & systems where possible.
Cross functional planning
 Transfer of product to Dispatch on time and in full
 Interact with management to insure adequate raw material supply to the line, where possible on a just in time basis
 Contribute to the implementation of site plans.
 Work with fellow management team to ensure all KPIs and targets are achieved.
 Lead daily charge hand meetings and conduct regular briefings with the teams.
 Involve and engage employees wherever possible, particularly in Continuous Improvement Initiatives.

Essential role related knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience at selection
Essential:
 Relevant management / supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment
 Leadership skills
 Good verbal & written communication skills
 Excellent attendance and timekeeping
 Good IT skills (Microsoft office)
 A conscientious and driven team player
Desirable:
 Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
 Basic Health & Safety qualifications
 Lean training
 Average weight legislation knowledge
 Experience of ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
 Engineering experience
