The U. S. Peace Corps is a leading international community-based development agency that has been working in Tanzania since 1961 to support American Volunteers serving in a number of community development projects including Secondary Education, Sustainable Agriculture and Community Health Education.
We are looking for qualified candidates to work as Language and Cross-Culture Facilitators during Pre-Service Training Programs for the Peace Corps Volunteers, which will be conducted in Korogwe (Tanga) from July to end of September 2018. Our trainings apply Community-Based Training (CBT) approach and therefore the successful candidates will be required to live and work in the rural areas throughout the training period. The language and Cross-Cultural Facilitator (LCFs) will report to the Training Manager and work under direct supervision of the Language and Cross-Culture Coordinator, in collaboration with the Homestay Program Coordinator and Technical Trainers, to make sure that the volunteer-trainees meet a set of established language, technical and cross-cultural minimum standards before service.
Summary of Responsibilities: The language and Cross-Cultural Facilitator will be responsible for planning and implementing a successful community-based Language and Cross-Cultural training. He / She will be the primary point of contact for the Peace Corps Trainees. The LCF will act as the cross-culture guide to Trainees and a technical information resource person at the Community Based Training site.

An applicant must possess at least a Diploma in Adult Education, Education, Social Work, Community Development or other fields related to the Peace Corps Projects. The incumbent must be a native from Zanzibar with broad understanding of the Zanzibar History, Culture and Religions. Having experience teaching Kiswahili to foreigners (preferably Americans); being able to communicate effectively in English; and experience in community development projects like education, agriculture, livestock, forestry, gender and women empowerment, HIV&AIDS and Malaria will be an added advantage. A candidate who is functional in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point will be preferred.
