JOB POSITION: General Maintenance
Maintenance is responsible for assisting in the supervision and instruction of Maintenance Department and works with Maintenance personnel, various departments and companies, to ensure an attractive, well maintained facility. Performs maintenance and repair work, including service and repair of appliances in support of quality standards encompassing a variety of skills in the different trades, including, but not limited to carpentry, masonry, air conditioning and refrigeration, painting and wall covering, plumbing, electronics and electrical and mechanical work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assigns manpower to various routine and non-routine tasks ensuring proper utilization of available manpower.
• Visually inspects work of other maintenance employees and perform a variety labor tasks in the various trades. This involves the ability to lift, grasp carry or transport items weighing up to 50 lbs. or up to 200 lbs. with wheeled assistance and the ability to travel to various indoor and outdoor sites throughout the facility.
• Consults daily with maintenance management to review current operational conditions, including but not limited to completed and projected work, staffing requirements, and other issues significant to the smooth operation of the Maintenance Department.
• Maintains a daily foreperson log noting pertinent operational or mechanical occurrences during scheduled shifts. Reviews log information with the relieving foreperson or senior maintenance employee.
• Reviews material inventory levels with storeroom clerk to insure material levels are sufficient for uninterrupted routine repairs, retrieving inventory information from a computer. Reviews material requirements for projected jobs or projects.
• Communicates with other hotel management relative to maintenance operations through written or verbal communication. Completes required reports using a computer.
EDUCATION:
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience of at least five years that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
• 5 years’ experience in a primary trade of carpentry, plumbing, electronics, masonry, mechanics, air conditioning or painting and wall covering, general maintenance work and the basic operation of Engineering Department related procedures. Previous supervisory experience required. Computer experience preferred. Knowledge of repair of small appliances.
