KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To ensure quality improvement and patient safety standards are implemented in patient care areas.
  • Make patient care area rounds to ensure high risk, infected and vulnerable patients are managed
  • Conduct and coordinate closed records audits and compile the data by physician and by department; to ensure clinical documentation is up to the standards.
  • Investigate and facilitate sentinel events, sensitive complaints, and morbidities.
  • Facilitate credentialing, privileging and ongoing monitoring and evaluation (OME) of medical staff through Medical director's office. Keep track of data related to OME.
  • Participate in continuous medical education (CMEs) and medical staff orientation sessions on quality and patient safety standards.
  • Conduct.internal audits and participate in external audits.
  • Participate in mortality and morbidity reviews.
  • Provide support and guidance to medical staff on institutional policies and procedures as well as other administrative functions to ensure all departments operate within the laid down policies.
  • Support the institutional JCIA,ISO and other quality tools and standards with appropriate processes and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures and evidenced based practice guidelines.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Medical, Bachelor of Surgery (ME ChB) or equivalent clinical background.
  • Relevant active clinical experience.
  • A background in Health Management or Public Health would be advantageous.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Three or more years' experience in direct and indirect clinical care activities in a hea1thcare institution.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and present clinical data.
  • Ability to conduct intense analysis and clinical reviews of adverse events.
  • Knowledge of clinical research.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, power point & Excel).
  • Ability to identify, recognize and escalate critical issues for resolution.
